Recreation & climate. I can find a job anywhere once I get out of school.

Much better than an expansive, gridlocked metro with few public transit options and even fewer entertainment options (outside of sports) despite all those millions of people.

If I had to pick only one of those options it would definitely be the job. Cost of living, crime, and recreation come second. Don't care much about the climate, I've lived in the Midwest long enough to withstand most climates.

Not to mention "losing people fast" is relative to whatever the person who has a grudge against a place wants it to be to prove their point, confirmation bias.

If Proximity to Family was on the list it would be my last choice. :P

1. Job Outlook
2. Female population (single male, looking so its very relevant)
3. Transportation

Where is the option for singles population within your age/demographic? Some places are terrible for certain ages/demographics due to lack of people there, type of city or cultural norms in the area. I think if you are single and 30+ this will be a major choice.

Houston actually has plenty of entertainment options besides sports, and they are working on rapidly expanding their mass transit.

That being said I like Chicago.

I'm 32 and single and it honestly didn't occur to me when I moved. I guess if I was really actively looking it would, though. It still wouldn't be nearly as important to me as climate.

You are saying this from greater Seattle metro though. I doubt you would be saying that if you were in Montgomery, Alabama for instance. Which given your age, singleness, and non love of the climate might present a nightmare scenario for you.
