I live in one of the best parts of LA and love it here, but chose SF Miss it up there.

Excluding where I live now, Minneapolis (part-time Atlanta), I chose Chicago. I have a thing for Midwestern cities, and there is no way I could live in a small city.

I would say that at least 70% of the cities listed in the poll
are not big cities at all.

"BIG" city is relative toy just how enormous one wants..
There is BIG like LA, NYC, Chicago... and there is smaller big like
Philly, Seattle, Pittsburgh..
Having these choices of small medium and large big..along with a poll gives an idea if a majority of people would like to live where goods and services are easily available in a massive population or not.. I like this poll.

I don't really have one ideal "dream" city.

I love the big city excitement and amenities of NYC and Chicago, but I would not want to live in either of those places permanently b/c I would hate the winters and I would be too far away from my family.

I love the warm weather of San Diego, Miami and Phoenix, but not sure I'd like to live there year round (maybe San Diego).

For me I think the best total package would be a large southern city such as Atlanta or New Orleans. Since the Big Easy isn't on the list of choices, I picked ATL.

For the first time I haven't really felt a burning itch to be transient or pick up everything and whisk myself away to New York City or Boston - which were the two I had originally wanted to end up in. I'm very content to establish some roots here in Philly, at least until my undergraduate years are over. Then I will go where the jobs(I'm pursuing production for live entertainment, job stability is rare) take me. I can think of a million and a half places I'd like to live - but if I didn't have friends, sustainable finances, or any quality of life, what would it matter if I lived in Manhattan??

I've always loved the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty and would like to be able to do some quality scuba diving in an actual ocean(no, not the jersey shore, haha. quarries are the best I get on a regular basis) more than once in a blue moon. I've always loved NYC - but living there for the sake of living in New York City(especially on MY finances, good god lol) is not worth the quality of life I'd most likely have. I would go for job opportunities - and who knows, in my field of work I would be beyond lucky to be working there!! I would go for school, I would go if my hypothetical significant other had opportunities there - I would not go just to go, though.

So I guess due my line of work, it would be NYC. Can't think of another place that would be better for networking and expanding my career - it would be a HORRIBLE place to start my career though, which I'm just doing now, I would have no shot at getting anything that would let me even break even on rent.

Agreed ^
There are maybe a dozen "big" cities on this list.

I would probably choose Chicago. I'm used to being centrally located, not to mention Chicago is just awesome.
