When looking at a city with a large percentage of immigrants and/or international vibe to it, cities like NYC come to mind. However, I do not make a ton of money at the moment and I would like to drive a car. I'm a single guy so I don't mind to live in a non family-oriented city. I mostly care about the city being vibrant, very culturally diverse and relatively cheap. For example, I don't want to spend 1500$ on rent a month, pay a ton of taxes and pay 400$ a month for car insurance just to live in a city I described. I also care about nearby cities and scenery. California seems the best for that. You could live in San Diego and take short trips to LA, Vegas, et cetera. While if you live in Miami, you take trips to where? Key West? You get my point.
From what I described, cities like Atlanta come to mind. Also, some people say a city like Miami is diverse, but when I visited Miami, only Spanish was being spoken and I felt Latinos were the majority group there, which they obviously are. So I don't really consider Miami (beach) a diverse area. NYC, however, felt very vibrant and diverse. Onto my point; which large cities in the USA are car friendly, relatively affordable, culturally and racially diverse, have an international vibe and are vibrant? PS: I also care about the weather. It shouldn't be gray and overcast 365 days a year. I can handle winters.

I would recommend checking out Nashville. It's become quite diverse, has a lot going on (not just country music), is quite affordable and centrally located geographically.
Both Houston and Dallas would fit your criteria as both cities have a large immigrant population, are car friendly, and are relatively low cost (at least in comparison with California and the Northeast).
If you've described Sacramento. It's maybe not as large as you like nor has the big-city urban vibe of the larger cities, but for big-city world-class urban vibe SF is a train ride or 1hr 30mins drive away.
