I am a college student looking to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and eventually my Doctorate of Nursing Practice. I have wanted to live in the mountains as long as I can remember (I currently live in a suburb of Memphis, TN, and I hate it here. I'm not going to get into why, if you're curious simply search the forums for Memphis...) The 3 schools that I am most interested in are: the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, The University of Wyoming in Laramie, and Montana State University in Bozeman. I would like to find out more pros and cons about the schools as well as the citys/states if anyone has any information. One pro for Colorado Springs is that I have family there, but that does not have to be a deciding factor. Thanks!

Laramie is a pretty isolated city, no major airports nearby, and very limited connection to other places but if you are looking to get away from it all I might look at it. Colorado Springs would definitely be more urban.
I am a UCCS alum, and I know that admission to the nursing programs are very competitive. You might have to go where you're accepted. I know a bit about the Wyoming program as well, and I know both that and UCCS have good relationships with their respective communities and both give you plenty of clinical hours. With a BSN, none of these schools are going to give you a particular advantage in the workplace, as baccalaureate-educated nurses are in high demand in many places across the country. You are going to be SO busy in your studies/clinical rotations chances are you won't have much time to really enjoy the mountains...but COS does have great access to them. Best of luck!
