I love Waffle House, not exactly sure why, just has some kind of honest Americana diner appeal to it, and love the smothered, covered, etc. thing. I'm good it's just in the south, it's a treat during trips, it would feel odd if I saw one in NY or further north.

We still have a few in the metro, but that was the last one left in the Phoenix city limits, since the one near the Airport closed over 15 years ago

Atlanta has like 4 in downtown alone and another one is opening up soon. It did start in the Atlanta area though.

Spending the night in Rolla, Mo and guess what, a Waffle House a block away. I had an excellent hamburger with hashbrowns. Yep, I love Waffle House.

Your right too, up North they do put silly trendy names on ole greasy spoons to make em look special. "Eggz", I loved that
I'm from "up north" -- NJ -- diner capital of the world.. and I would KILL for a Waffle House...they are so. damn. good!!!

Bob Evans is infinitely better than Waffle House.

The urban Northeast tends to have more diners and family-owed breakfast places, along with the world's largest concentration of Dunkin' Donuts....
