I would. The News Reports always say " New orLEENS rather the local pronunciation and that really annoys me.

I definitely would. Most people seem to think Chicago doesn't even have an accent and it drives me nuts.

The St. Louis accent is present only in the Baby Boomer generation and will be gone once the Baby Boomers die out. The younger generations speak General American. And unfortunately the local newscasters have to have the General American accent. So for the most part, accents are discouraged among local newscasters.

Do you say 'dis' and 'dat' instead of 'this' and 'that'? Because that is easier, too.

Many of them do especially reporters on the street, weather forecasters and sports announcers.

Yes. You never hear the white Baltimore accent in the city, just sometimes on commercials done by local businesses.

Cleveland sure does have a strong accent, as well as a nasal characteristic that I hate. Same for a lot of that area. Detroit accent, no thanks.

I am told that Cincinnatians do not have that accent.

Cincinnati has one of the most distinct and well documented dialects in the United States. Like St. Louis and Pittsburgh, Cincinnati is considered an urban speech island.
