Which state(s) and/or cities are the most wholesome, family-centered, and all-American? My guess is that places in the midwest like Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Kansas, etc. would rank very high, but I don't know.

Any thoughts?

You will find the good and the bad of urban life in every city in the USA. DH grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. People laugh when I say he's a city boy from Nebraska, but it's true. Omaha is a city like any other; lots of cultural stuff, sports (college in this case), crime, drugs, you name it.

I'd say Iowa for state, lots of farms, great State Fair, all american feel and good mix in the state politically.

Most wholesome city is probably Salt Lake City

You are insinuating that some states aren't as "All American" as others. That makes no sense.

I don't know about wholesome or family-centered but there was one thread here on C-D that talked about which was the most proto-typical American city in the United States. I think the people there said that Chicago was in terms of culture. New York City is very immigrant Old-World based and worldly, while LA has a strong hispanic and Asian culture. They said Chicago is the most "American" culturally in terms of it being based on culture that most likely originated from purely American type culture (did that sound right?).

My personal opinion through, the most "All-American" city would be Washington DC and Philadephia, because those are the most important cities I think in terms of the founding of America itself.

As far as "wholestome" or "family centered", I would think the southeastern states like Alabama or Georgia. Although I think any state or place is good for families and can be wholesome.
