The poll and thread is more concerned with the rapidly growing metros of Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix. Charlotte could also be lumped in with these four even though it isn't really in the sunbelt.
Based on the yuppie liberals definition, probably Miami which has a better public transporation system than most Southern and Western cities. Also their system of toll roads to reduce congestion while still keeping some major highways free, unlike some northeast states where main highways are tolled. Also Miami's outskirts are protected by national parks like Everglades. I do hope Florida continues to be successful in preserving the natural landscape down there as well as in the Keys.
I think many people do include Charlotte in the Sunbelt because of the rapid growth, same with Raleigh and Nashville. There are all Southern cities after all.
Do you consider the Sunbelt an entire region or just a list of cities? Would you include slower growing Southern and Western cities like New Orleans, Memphis, Little Rock, El Paso, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, or Albuquerque in the Sunbelt?

Houston, & Miami lead the pack.
Atlantas the worst, but it was the prototype.
Charlotte is going to have to make some major upgrades to its infastructure or it will be in last place soon.

Dallas for public tranportation...it's light rail system is years ahead any other city in the south.
Too bad not many people use it. The ridership numbers speak for themselves.
Getting around Dallas without a car on a day to day basis is not a reality no matter how large its light rail system is.
