Presuming money is no object, it'd be NYC or the Bay Area (SF) for me. I'm amazed that SF doesn't rank more highly in the results (it's 10th at the moment), except that I see Nashville is currently third, behind NY and Atlanta.

I've lived in every metro I just mentioned except Nashville, and I will have to contend that the results so far tell us more about the people voting than they do about the metro areas themselves.

I gave Orlando my vote. I was born and raised in the midwest and its time for a change. Been working on getting down there for awhile now, hope it will happen soon!

I live in the Charlotte area and have no plans to ever leave. Absolutely love it here. But those that I really like and know I could be happy there after visiting multiple times over decades of travel across the U. S. (in no order):

Atlanta
Orlando
Tampa/St. Petersburg
Philadelphia
Chicago
Minneapolis/St. Paul

The categories that mean the most to my wife and me are recreational assets (especially outdoors), affordability, solid economy, and great people. We've found in our travels and the research I do that these areas (and Charlotte) have the best balance of these traits for us. Good thread!

I'm where I want to be but of the listed places, I'd choose St. Louis or close by.
