if I were to suggest the OBX, I'd be pretty descriptive where...parts of the OBX do NOT live up to the hype! And I love the place.

Parts of almost [i]anywhere[i] dont live up to the hype. I wouldnt take someone to New York and show them the slums or Key West and the trinket shops and bars. All my choices have a lot in them so you do have to pick and choose

There are plenty of great places to visit in the USA, but this is still a top 10:

1. New York City

2. Chicago

3. San Francisco

4. Seattle

5. Cascade Mountain range in Washington state/Oregon (Such as North Cascades National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, OR Mount Hood)

6. Rocky Mountain range in Colorado/Wyoming (Such as Yellowstone National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, OR Great Sand Dunes National Park)

7. Big Sur/Pacific Coast highway

8. Coastal areas of Hawaii (Such as Na'Pali Coast state park, Kahikinui Forest Reserve, West Maui Forest Reserve, OR Hawaii Volcanoes National Park)

9. Grand Canyon in Arizona

10. Washington DC


A top 15 would also include these places:

11. Los Angeles

12. Portland

13. Boston

14. Philadelphia

Crater Lake National Park (Oregon)

Olympic National Park - especially the Hoh Rainforest (Washington State)

Washington DC - especially do the night tours when all the landmarks and buildings are lit up and all beautiful!

Redwood National Park (NorCal)

Hawaii - don't miss the Pearl Harbor Memorial

Yellowstone N.P. (Wyoming, Montana, Idaho)

New York - Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor, Times Square, Ellis Island, Broadway shows, etc.

Glacier N.P. (Montana) - see it before it's gone forever... try to go during an active time for auroras...

San Francisco - Golden Gate Bridge

Las Vegas
