Hawaii is the most Asian friendly state. Next comes California, Washington, and Oregon. IMO the farther you get away from the west the less friendly they are to Asians. This is of course excluding the larger cities like NYC and Chicago.

I live in the DC area and this is where Asians live by state (since it covers 3 states):

Maryland: In Montgomery County (Rockville for the most part): There is a huge Chinese, Taiwanese and Indian presence in Rockville and North Potomac with lots of stores catering to them. I believe Rockville has one of the largest Taiwanese populations in the country next to places in California and NY. Howard County also has a lot of Koreans there as well.

DC: This is a white/black city. The Asians there own small liquor store and other small businesses and your only bet is meeting families of ambassadors from China and the rest of Asia.

Northern Virginia: This is home to many Indians, Koreans (found in Annandale) and Vietnamese Americans. They're all found in Fairfax and Loudoun counties but Koreans tend to focus usually around the Annandale area as mentioned. This is one of the most diverse regions in the country.

One city I'll mention that nobody has yet is Philadelphia. It doesn't have an enormous Asian population like the major cities on the Pacific coast, but it does have a critical mass, and it has increased its location quotient of Asians substantially since 2000, as this map illustrates:

(Map courtesy of Aaron Renn.)

A location quotient in this case is defined as the concentration of a racial/ethnic group relative to the national concentration, and the change in the location quotient, as illustrated on the map, is the change in the concentration of a racial/ethnic group relative to the national concentration. It is not an indicator of population growth or loss, but rather, an indicator of the change in concentration relative to the national average. Any MSA illustrated in a darker shade of blue on the map above has increased its concentration of Asians at a rate significantly faster than the national average since 2000. The Philadelphia MSA is shaded in the darkest shade of blue on the map above.

In the Pennsylvania portion of the Philadelphia MSA alone are 218,051 Asians, per the 2010 Census. In the city proper, North Philadelphia and South Philadelphia are where most Asians live. Philadelphia's Chinatown is located on the north end of Center City. In the suburbs, Asians are mostly found to the north along I-476 and PA 309 in places like Blue Bell, Montgomeryville and Lansdale, or to the west along U.S. 202 in places like King of Prussia, Exton and West Chester. Other suburbs not located along those highways that have sizable Asian populations are Upper Darby and Bensalem.
