Based on the responses in this thread, it looks to me like all the boring places to live in America are going to be 99%+ white.

While the most interesting places will be ethnically more diverse.

So , is it just as logical or necessary when it comes to race.
I don't think it's very logical to worry about race. It's more about economic class. I'm sure whites don't mind living in an affluent community with other races that have the same net worth and economic status as them. It's when people (of any race) start moving in by using government assistance who otherwise couldn't afford it. I'd have a problem with that too and I'm black.

As for the Midwest, St. Louis, Chicago, and Detroit all have black majorities.
Chicago is less than 1/3 black. It's roughly a straight up mix of black, white and hispanic with a small asian minority.

I feel like everyone always thinks its much more black than it really is. Why is that?

Hispanics are easily the second largest group in the metro after whites. There are about 2 million hispanics.

I believe that is what will happen, also. Even us black folks, with our 13% representation, have numerous cities and even counties that are majority black. Asians are the plurality in Hawaii despite only making up 4.8% of the USA, overall. So, I imagine there will be a lot of majority white areas in this country in the future. The USA is segregated like that, despite the ''melting pot'' fascade.
