I watched the documentary "Waiting for Superman" recently, and they stated that although America's public schools are pretty bad, American students have the highest level of self-confidence in the world.
So I'll add that America is best when it comes to high self-esteem and confidence.
Lets put it this way, xenokc...if you're an enemy combatant, the only military prison that you want to go to is a US prison. During WWII many German POWs did not want to leave, lol.
The USA is the best nation at destroying the enviornment and making people believe everyone should aspire to having a huge McMansion and a four car garage
I'll add probably the best in the world for:
-freeway system
-media/ tv production quality (not necessarily related to quality of content)
-recreational facilities
- marketing of "stuff"
- amusement parks
- cheerleading...school/ college spirit
- "candy-coating" things! (making things out to be more fun/ important than they really are)
but really the US is full of extremes- great (the best) at many things and completely embarassing in other things
Th US has the best higher education system in the world. The top schools like Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Chicago, Columbia, Cal Tech, Juliard, Berkely, Stanford, and some others, rival or surpass the best universities anywhere else, and attract faculty and students from around the world.
We're also probably the best in the world at basketball, a home-grown sport that's now played world wide and which our players still set the standard.
As for baseball? I think not. When a third of the MLB is from Latin America I think we're hard pressed to call ourselves the best. And in the Olympics they're too many sports we don't dominate to be the best; long-distance running (E. Africans and North Africans), boxing (Cubans), gymnastics (China, Japan, Russia, E. European nations), sprints (W. Indian countries), hockey (Canada) and on and on.
