I became an independent contractor a little over a year ago. I moved to Seattle as a result, and love it here.

However, because I have freedom, I want to work from different cities every few weeks during this winter. I prefer sticking with the western US, but all recommendations are welcome as I could become more adventurous.

My ideal place will have a relatively mild winter, lots of places with free wifi (I think all Starbucks' and Barnes & Noble's have free wifi so maybe all cities are okay nowadays), a beach, and cheap hotels.

The beach part and cheap hotel part are not required, especially since most places offer cheap hotels when booked via Priceline.

Prefer medium and larger cities, but all recommendations are welcome as some small cities can be fun I am sure.
