Just noticed this morning on a map on CBS that the capital of China is North of the capital of North Korea.

Yes, it is kind of interesting how far north that Beijing is in relation to the rest of China. I am not sure what the history is and why Beijing is the capital today.

According to Wikipedia, Beijing literally means "Northern Capital".

Comparing China to the United States, Beijing is as far north as Philadelphia, PA and Shanghai is as far south as Temple, Texas which is farther south than all of California.

And Harbin would be where Montreal is, and Hong Kong would be between Havana and Cancun.

Hong Kong also barely dodges being parallel with Kauai. I posted earlier in the thread that Hainan stretches farther south than all of Hawaii.

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is longer than the Chesapeake Bay Bridge–Tunnel even though the former has no tunnels while the latter has two.

I've always found it strange how Windsor ON, the safest city in by far the safest country in Northern America is half a mile away from Detroit MI.

I always thought Windsor had a reputation as a party town. That is most interesting.
