On the west coast, the commercial seaport furthest from the ocean is located at Lewiston, Idaho, along the Snake River, a tributary of the oceangoing Columbia River. The shipping channel route is about 450 miles long, while the straight-line distance from Lewiston to the Pacific Ocean is around 335 miles.
T Does the same ruling apply to television stations as well?
.
Yes, it's a part of an international communications treaty that governs the call signs of all transmissions in the broadcast bandwidth. The first assignments were made by the 1912 London International Radiotelegraphic Convention, governing radio transmissions by ships at sea, and it was modified several times as land-based broadcasting expanded.

Although Minnesota is only 175 miles from the geographic center of North America, it has commercial ports used by oceangoing vessels into the Gulf of Mexico (Minneapolis) and the North Atlantic (Duluth).
Parts of New Orleans could be considered islands. There is New Orleans East which is quite large and is actually part of the city. But it used to be connected to the rest of the city before shipping canals(Industrial Canal and Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet Canal) were dug to seperate two of the sides from other land. There is also the Lower Ninth Ward, St. Bernard Parish, and parts of Plaquemines Parish which together make another island and is seperated from the rest of the city by the same Industrial Canal/Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet Canal on two of the sides. Then the New Orleans East Bank(main part of city and parts of metro) could actually be considered a peninsula becuase on one side there is Lake Ponchartrain, on the other side the Mississippi River, and then the other side the Industrial Canal(or you could make this boundary even father by it being the Gulf of Mexico).
Just look around on Google maps and you will notice these things.
Also Lake Ponchartrain is technically not a lake but is an estuary.
I knew it was the largest inland port in the country but didn't think it would beat Miami which is such as major metro on the ocean.
More cargo tonnage comes into nearby Port Everglades, which is jointly in the cities of Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. Port Everglades was developed in part by Joseph Wesley Young, the founder of Hollywood (FL) who insisted that Broward County cede half of the port to his town ... although I think those in Fort Lauderdale would have liked to have it all to themselves. Remember, this is only about 15 miles north of Miami. Across the street (US Hwy. #1) is the airport which is officially named Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (but it's rarely called that anymore).

If you can create islands by digging man-made waterways, then the entire Eastern time zone and much of the central time zone are a huge island, surrounded by the Chicago River, the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence River, the Atlantic ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River, Illinois River, Des Plaines River, and the 28-mile long Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. You can sail a pretty large ship all the way around.
In Louisiana, there are also several floodways (Atchafalaya, Morganza, Bonnet Carre) to let the Mississippi flow around New Orleans, thus creating temporary islands. I don't think the Atchafalaya has ever been opened, but the Bonnet Carre is opened a couple of times a decade, to divert Mississippi water into Lake Pontchartrain.

Thanks for clearing that up, wondered why there were oddballs in the group. Here in DFW, we have WBAP and WRR on the radio and WFAA on TV. Does the same ruling apply to television stations as well?
Also, fittingly, WACO is in Waco, TX.
The furthest west "W" call letters I can find are WOAI San Antonio. Here is an interesting link:
