My husband is getting out of the navy soon and we can't decide which state to move to. I am from Pa and my husband is from Tn. We keep going back and forth about where to move to. On one hand we have a for sure job in Pa but we could get our dream house in Tn. We have tried to ask family but they all want us to move to their state. We need some outside advice.

We lived in E. TN for 15 years. Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area. The Smoky mountains were our back yard.

Although the economy has struck there as well and jobs are not as plentiful as they use to be it is still the most beautiful place in the world to live.

There is always something to do and locals get into almost everything either free or at a reduced rate.

I would sure pick the South as the temperatures are mild, winter snows are beautiful and don't last long and the views are proof that God exists.

Thats the problem, I am confused about what to do. On one hand a want to be close to my family but I want to also have my dream home. On the other hand if we move to the south I would be worried about money and miss my family.

I know that but the homes are more affordable in tn where we would be able to get a few acres for a reasonable price.

Firstly, where in PA would you be moving to and where in TN would you be moving to. Both states have cheaper and more expensive areas (getting a house in central PA around towns such as Johnstown or Altoona would not be cost prohibitive in the least. On the other hand, if you want to move to the main line outside of Philly, housing will be more expensive. I agree about checking out the sticky post

I say take the job first for security.

Where in Tennessee is he from? If he's from east TN perhaps he can still feel at home in PA's hills and mountains.
