I am planning on moving out of my current city this time next year, but want to plan visits for this summer to potential cities.

About me:
-30, single white female
-work in Healthcare, can work anywhere in the country basically
-2 dogs (will only take 1 with me)
-Liberal Democrat, athiest
-Currently live in small town eastern Washington, lived in Seattle for 8 years before that.

My wants:
-bigger city, over 300,000
-good public transit
-local food scene, farm-to table, farmers markets, etc
-live music, especially indie/folk rock (Guster, Band of Horses, Black Keys)
-housing under $175,000 to buy a 1 or 2 bedroom condo/house
-dog friendly, good dog parks and hiking
-other young professionals to date/make friends
-no extreme weather (ie 100 and humid in summer, snow and negative temps for 3 months in winter)

The top of my list is Denver right now, but I am open to other suggestions. I am not interested in going back to Seattle. Thanks!

You might consider Cleveland. It has world-class medical facilities, is a liberal city, has surprisingly good public transit, a vibrant food scene, excellent farmers markets, a wide selection of housing in your price range in the trendy neighborhoods, is dog-friendly, has a sizable community of young professionals and the typical four season climate you'd expect without crippling heat or sub-zero temperatures.

One of the first places I thought of too. Maybe Buffalo as well, but it is just under 300,000 as a city. Pittsburgh may work as well. I thought about Philadelphia and Baltimore as well, but they may be a bit too big.

Then, that knocks out Cleveland considering that they are on the same lake. With that said, both areas know how to handle the snow in a timely manner.

Buffalo is also close to Toronto. So, its location is a plus.

Pittsburgh may be a good option. Maybe Baltimore, parts of Philadelphia and Columbus OH.

Cleveland seems to fit your description almost exactly...strong heathcare, very affordable, artsy, public transportation:

btw, I've read this year's Cleveland theme is "Year of Local Foods:" GreenCityBlueLake | Advancing sustainability in Northeast Ohio

Also on your list should be Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
