I've been called out by more than a few west coast folk for my biting sarcasm (told how it's not constructive and insecure, etc, etc.) and ridicule. My reply was, "are you guys for real? this is a joke, right? GMAFB. Deal with it!"

I'm NJ born and raised, been living in Philly for 12 years but lived in eastern NC & SC for 5 years. People are almost as sarcastic down there. I could relate to people there far better than I can to midwesterners or westerners (great lakes areas excepted).

Don't mistake the meaning of sarcasm to be trying hard (and failing) to be snarky or clever. Those two are not one and the same.

There is nowhere that people are more GENUINELY sarcastic than the Northeast Megalopolis area, specifically the NY/Philly metro areas especially.
