Detroit i couldnt disagree with.
But Indy?
Again Indy is the fastest growing city/metro in the midwest. Detroit is losing population both in its metro and city.
So theres a MAJOR desirability difference there
Flyover states do nothing for me, especially cold ones.

I flew over Florida on my way to Honduras. It looked... like a nasty swamp filled with mosquitoes.

Really. Coming from Tampa.
I would rather live in any of the cities mentioned for affordability than that crackhouse filled craphole also known as Tampa

Have fun also with the kooky scientology douches over in Clearwater as well

Florida.... yeah..

Actually, I already received it. But I had it re-engraved and sent to you. It says "Conrats! You've survived another year in Tampa."

Desirability and affordability are usually (not always) inversely related.

I'm still surprised at the extreme stereotypes people have of the 4.5 million people living in metro Detroit because of what they see in the central areas of the city that have basically been abandoned by people. Over 85% of the people live removed from the ghetto areas of the city, and the suburbs are actually quite nice compared to many burbs around the country. I've been through Detroit area many times and it's pretty attractive overall.

It's a strange city in that most everything moved out to the burbs and left much of the central area to rot, but the quality of life for individuals in the metro is still nice. It's just not typical. As far as cost of living, it's a huge steal.

Please show me where I touted Tampa as the be-all-end-all of cities.

Oh that's right. I didn't. Because this thread isn't about Tampa. It's about those crappy cities mentioned in the link.

Troll.

What I learned from the OP's link:

1) Living in places that people actually want to live is expensive.
