It's amazing how nasty people are about "flyover country". Were they actually to live here they would find it has a very nice lifestyle, is a lot more relaxing, and has a much lower cost of living than the areas that they live in on the coast. Their loss, to each his own.

Carmel/Fishers are very affluent too.
But wealth isnt the only thing that defines a suburb.
Amendities also are important
What you mean are amenities, and as someone who has lived in Carmel, I can tell you Detroit's suburbs have plenty more.
