I-95 southbound out of DC, from Springfield/Lorton VA toward Fredericksburg, VA. It's 40 miles between the two and routinely it will take an hour and a half to two hours (or more if there's an accident).
Not bad IMO. It can take 2 hours to go 20 miles between Manhattan and New Haven.

Downtown Atlanta on I-75/I-85, and Chicago (I-90/I-94 and I-55), NYC on I-80/I-95, and Miami on I-95 all make my list. Bumper-to bumper traffic in many cases. Also, I-39/I-90/I-94 at the Illinois/Wisconsin border is a pain due to the tolls.
As far as St. Louis goes, I-64 and I-70 can both be major pains during rush hour. The Poplar Street Bridge carries I-44, I-55, I-64, and I-70 traffic and can be the cause of major headaches...even the I-270 bypass to the north of the city can get pretty badly clogged.

I think he's just referring to traveling 20 out of those 80 miles, not the whole trip itself. That's pretty bad. 80 miles typically is about an hour and a half depending on the speed limits..at about 65 mph this the travel time w/o stoppage in traffic.

As another poster realized, I'm referring to the 20 mile stretch between Greenwich and Fairfield-ish. It can often take hours to travel during rush hour (and on Sundays).
It has taken my wife over 3 hours to go 35 miles from Darien to Pine Orchard.

Taking the bus in Manhattan from Harlem to where I was staying on 27th street. It took over an hour just to get to 42nd street, by that stage I had had enough so took the subway the rest of the way. So much for wanting a 'tour' of Manhattan top to bottom.
