Above Baltimore is generally too cold with exceptions on coastal areas. Anywhere where the snow doesn't melt within a day or so but sticks around and gets gross.
I don't love extremely cold weather, but I can tolerate it much easier than hot weather. The problem is, a lot of the places in the lower 48 that have cold winters also have fairly hot summers. If I'm going to deal with an especially cold winter, I at least want a nice summer (no warmer than 65-70). Anchorage would probably work, for example. (Although Juneau would be better)
Considering that, Barrow, Alaska would definitely be too cold for me.
Basically, I wouldn't live in anything except zone 8 or higher.
My favorite climate is csa, but the winters are a bit too cool for me, although the summers are delightful.
The bwh climate is a bit too dry for me, mainly the winter dryness is what gets me.
The cfa climate is good but only in the southern half. For instance, Dallas has too cold of a climate for me, but Austin is just fine. That 200+ miles makes a difference between a cold rain and an icy precip mix up north.
Ideally I would live in a dry tropical climate like Aruba or something. Decent humidity levels, lots of sun, but not too much rain but still enough.
Same here. Going by that chart, zone 9 would be my 1st choice.
