Charleston, WV is in the top 5 in the country in construction increase, and the population has gone up a couple of thousand since it hit rock bottom in 2007-08. Also downtown is thriving, office space is almost at capacity, and new business and industry has been pouring in the last 2 years. Don't be suprized when the city has made a complete turn around in a few years.
Detroit has not come back, in fact its getting worse. Cleveland is not on that list however and it has made a comeback. Pittsburg is a great example of a comeback city. Im from Michigan too and I wish Detroit could be there, but I dont ever expect it to be there. The problems there are too deep and severe. There are some parts of Detroit that look like the post-war photos of Europe and Japan, and 1/3 of it is already completly abandoned. Detroits suburbs are nice, but Detroit proper is almost hopeless.
I want Newark to come back, it has potential, they have some of the most pituresque suburbs too.. This is a very innovative state, why not push jobs into Newark and forget about Manhattab for once? Lol Bloomberg says what about staten island? How about jobs in Newark and Elizabeth to generate some job growth/mass transit in and around the SI area. Extend a light rail through Bayonne and over into SI.
Jersey City/Hoboken is starting to cast a big shadow already, sooner or later NJ's significance will be recognized.
