I will say that most of the Europeans I've shown around definitely peg San Francisco as their favorite U.S. city. I think the never-ending rowhouse housing stock and few bus lines running on electrical overhead cables is somewhat familiar to them, but they don't say it reminds them of Europe.

Just saying English is just as European as French.
