In your state (or any state you may be familiar with) what is the most eclectic city AND name what is the most electic small town (or small city) as well? Pick from some or all of the criteria below, and add your own if you will. I'm most intrested in hearing about small towns and smaller cities, but feel free to mention neighborhoods in the bigger cities also.
Places that have lots of artists and artistry
Places that thrive off of small businesses, artisan food vendors, perhaps even adverse to chains
Distinct or colorful architecture
Places that people wouldn't bat an eye at the sight of a drag queen, hippies, or multiple tatoos and piercings
Places that draw lots of writers and poets
Places that have eclectic or offbeat attractions, could be pertaining to something retro or unusual history
Spiritual places, or locations with unconventional or unusual religious and spiritual practices (run the gamut from mother earth figures selling magic crystals to rattlesnake evangelists)
Places that are especially lyrical or has a high number of musical venues and/or street performers
Specific location or topography (beach, mountains, canyons, vortices, hot springs, parks) that would inspire eclectic people to come together therere

It has a its own impressionist movement named after it and has been home to many Scandals (Abby Hoffmans suicide; Jessica Savages death) and also quite the reataurnat scene. Home to many famous writers, artists, and musicains
Plus dramtic beauty

Also while not in PA. New Hope is directly accross the river (can walk across) from Lambertville NJ another ecletic town and together pack in a great destination. Also some of the best B&Bs in the country in the town and sorrounding countryside
was thinking of Galveston, but Austin folks don't like people questioning their quirkiness so, I wanted to avoid the fallout.
If Montrose was its own city it would be an interesting choice too as it has all those antique places, art houses, off the beaten path restaurants, tons of weirdos, plethora of gay clubs, right next to the museum district, etc etc
