Why do so many "wars" go on between "city people" and "country people?" (Conflicts over who has it "best." Or supposedly the "worst" etc.)...Why can't we all get along and just live in an area that "fits" us? Why is there so much competition? And "put-downs" at times?...I've always been curious and "stumped" about it. What do you think "fuels" all of the "wars?" Thanks!

Rather incendiary statement wouldn't you say? What I see as a city person is a state legislature dominated by people with more rural concerns. Hence, the economic engine for the state subsidizes the less efficient rural areas, yet gets very little in return except for complaints that we ignore them.
I think the problem is cities are very dominating while rural areas are necessary in terms of resources. Both are equally important, but cities tend to dominate the politics.
Basically:
City=More Power
Rural=Necessity
Both think they are more important than the either but in reality they are fairly equal.
I think politics also play into it. Urban dwellers are more likely to be Democrats and more liberal on social issues while country people lean conservative and are more religious.
I guess "limited resources" can definitely lead to friction and "wars" when it comes to who gets funding and top priority in a state etc...It's sad when people get stuck in an "us versus them" mentality. And sad when people don't view their state or area as a "whole."....Of course we're definitely "split-apart" as a nation. Not much unity!...Each "side" or "group" battles for control and tries to "push forth" their own agenda...When I was growing-up in So CA during the 50's I viewed the state as a "whole." I had respect and admiration for farmers and ranchers and people who enjoyed living in rural and open areas. And I had respect for people who preferred to live in cities too. I didn't place one "group" or lifestyle at the "top" as the "end all/be all!"....I just viewed it as a matter of choice and personal preferences. We were all free to live in an area that fit our "needs" and made us happy.
