That quiz was neat. And it was right!
My result: "You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for."
I was born and raised in Buffalo

Reason: Puncuation
You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.
Born after 1989
but this a shocking result
Which American accent do you have?
Northeast New England
The kind of accent they have in Boston. There is more to it than just r`s. Like, you say "don" and "dawn" the same while the people down in NYC don`t.

Yes. I think its called the "northern vowel shift." But you are right, it is an urban-industrial Great Lakes thing. Could be the influx of Polish people into working class neighborhoods earlier in the 20th century.
Polish heritage is something all those cities have in common.
Do all Americans born in 1990 or later speak the Californian way or are regional accents still strong/present in the younger generation?
a) What the hell is "the Californian way"?
2) According to my meticulous calculations, the cutoff for developing regional accents was June 3, 1988, at 3:10 p.m. EDT.
What a ridiculous question.
