Default How patriotic would you say you are?

I'm really not very patriotic at all, it has never meant much to me being American honestly. Though I guess when I visit other countries, it feels kinda cool being a 'foreigner' lol.

Not too much, during the Olympics yeah or maybe on some random youtube flame war...lol but that's about it. What I don't like is when people call me unpatriotic or some liberal douche...etc. I had the sobering displeasure of fighting for this country so I reserve the right to feel however I want about it.

What does it really mean to be patriotic? I think too many think they're patriotic simply because they fly a flag in their front yard, on their pickup truck and they constantly spout off about supporting the troops (while conveniently avoiding the recruiter's office).

Whoever can fire off the most/best fireworks in the neighborhood during the 4th. My family always wins that war considering we go to a Firework store in Wisconsin and practically buy everything that's in there

Less patriotic with each passing year. I having increasing contempt for our politicians, our political parties and our culture as I get older. America, while never perfect, was exceptional in many ways at one time. Like the Roman Empire, it is in decline and I am afraid it's irreversible. I think, deep down, I still have a great love for the country, but it's a flicker of what it once was.

Both my grandparents fought in major wars (WWII-Pacific and Korea), so I feel obligated to eek out the lows no matter the economy....as I feel that's what each generation before mine has done to make this country great. I DID, however, say that if Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin became President that I'd literally consider fleeing the country.....as I just don't think that's what Americans would have wanted for this country!

You are right we are in decline because our society is becoming corrupt and apathetic. Our politicians border on being evil. Patriotism however is a love of our country, NOT its goverment. America is a place, and an ideal of freedom, that is what I love. I love the place physically, how many nations have such beautiful and diverse places as we do? America is also the ideal of personal freedom and a goverment that exists for the benefit of the people, not the other way around like it is elsewhere. Even though we are getting off track on that does not mean we should turn on our country. Even if one day the people have to remove the goverment by force like our founding fathers did the British goverment in 1776 does not mean those removing it should not still love this nation. It is because we love our nation that we would be willing to take such risk to protect the great ideals of America from corrpution and tyranny, that is patriotism.
