What beach or coastal towns can you think of that would be a nice place to live? When I think of a quiet beach town, I think of a Newport Beach, CA or a Cocoa Beach, FL. A nice place where local restaurants (particularly seafood) thrive, very pedestrian friendly, marinas everywhere, perhaps paved roads for bikes or skating. I understand that most (like Cocoa Beach and Newport Beach) have their crowded seasons in the summer and that's ok. Where in the US do you know of such places?

Mariana Beach, Fl
Flagler Beach, Fl
Jacksonville Beach, Fl
Clearwater Beach, Fl It's crowded during the season of course, but it's a really nice beach!

Much of Maine offers what the OP is looking for. You could pretty much grab a map, and stick a pin in any area along the coast of Maine, and it will have everything/nearly everything you've listed as criteria. Yes, many coastal areas of Maine get touristy in the warmer months. But they are still quiet small towns at heart, especially when compared to other coastal areas.

It does not get any quainter than Lewes Delaware. Now Lewes is 3-4 miles from the actual beach so it is not overrun by tacky motels. Nearby Cape Henlopen state park is wonderful.

These sound great so far. The surprising one I see is Lewes in Delaware. I only knew about Dewey Beach there. Unfortunately, my only experience there in Delaware was Wilmington and it wasn't the greatest. I'd love to see how the coast is. And the Edisto Island, FL locations, even Maine all sound cool, especially for good seafood.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina. There is nothing like it. Peaceful. Friendly. Walk/bike anywhere to everything. Beautiful beaches. Beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
