Good thread, to add to this here were the number of international immigrants in 2011:
Total number of international immigrants by MSA (except for BWI and SF/SJ which will be CSA). I will least all that had over 10,000 immigrants during 2011. The total number for the US was 1,062,040:
Really interesting data. From a Tx perspective. the relatively high natural growth rates for tx cities surprised me a little. Also it shows Dallas is more attractive to domestic relocators where Houston is more so to foreign relocators to Tx cities.

The difference is pretty small between the international migration to both is relatively small. Breaking it down between Dallas and Houston, the primary difference is that Houston does a better job of attracting residents from South and Central America (minus Mexico which is pretty similar to both) as well as East Asia and Dallas does a better job of attracting residents from Africa and South Asia.
Overall, the difference is between the two ends up being 1k-3k a year depending on the year.
nice to see Indianapolis above Kansas City in all catergories.
especially with Domestic Migration. Indianapolis gained people well Kansas City lost people to Domestic Migration. *Go Figure lol*

Not sure you should be laughing....you're still lagging behind Columbus (an equal by any measure) and Minneapolis-St. Paul if you base it on percentages.
In the end, nobody in the Midwest is a true "winner" here!
