Funny thing - my aunt has lived in Baltimore, MD for several years now and has lost her native NY accent and now has that annoying Maryland "O" thing going on. So annoying. I always wondered where it was from; had no idea Marylanders had accents.

Everyone has accents. The people where I live in PA claim to have no accent, but I think they all talk funny.

In my experience Marylanders do have a noticable accent across the state. You get the O thing, the dropping letters thing, the warsh thing, and often hints of southerness or northerness, or full-on southern or Mid-Atlantic among many other things depending on the area. The Maryland Amish have a significantly different accent than the Pennsylvania Amish too.

There's different accents throughout the state . Folks from Baltimore don't sound like folks from Hagerstown don't sound like folks from La Plata.

Probably Minnesota for me. I have family out there, so part of me likes it, but it's probably my least favorite. I like to mimic my Aunt and people tell me to stop doing that "Fargo accent."

I don't really care for the New York accent, but it depends on the personality of the person talking with it I guess.

I lived in Wisconsin nearly all my life and have the "thick" northern accent. I say "Malk" instead of "Milk" and I leave the "a" out of "Orange" - It sounds like "ore-nge". I never noticed how I said orange till I moved down south and they pointed it out.

I love the southern accent. It'd be kind of contradictory if I was annoyed by it, seeing as I live here.
