We're in the marine climate according to the map. Winter means Gor-Tex boots, coats, hats. I'm ready! Gor-Tex stuff lasts forever. I've had the same coat for 19 years.

Jesus, I don't think I could do that. I usually donate all of my clothing to charity and then buy the summer collection in May.
On the other hand, I'm super picky about what I'll wear.
Winters tend to vary in Dallas too. I tell people who contemplate moving here that on Christmas day, the temperature could be 30 or it could be 60. We have several cold days..."cold" defined as 20-30 degrees which I know is wimpy compared to "cold" up north.
I really only have to wear a coat 8-10 times during a typical winter. When it snows here (and that is rare), people are generally beside themselves with joy and next to snowmen even if they're itty bitty snowmen.
We had snow on the mountains two weeks ago. Again last week. And again this morning. But so far it's only down to the 6000 ft level. I'm at about 4500. So it's close and Saturday it will be knocking on the door.
All I can tell about the winter coming in the Midwest is that it's harvest time in all the Midwestern states. In all the Cornbelt states (Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio)...the crops are no longer green but are ripe brown (the last time I checked). Pretty soon, nothing but short sticks and stumps that once belonged to tall corn crops.
yup...look at the forecast. Billings, Montana is supposed to get three days of snow this week.
Being in one of the Southern States, we get snow after Montana.
