"They lived in my city for a year so they are associated with it."
The people I've listed under "non-natives who represent Pittsburgh" were all born elsewhere, but lived a significant portion of their lives in Pittsburgh.
Lena Horne was born in New York but lived in Pittsburgh twice, and learned from several different jazz musicians. On that note, I should have included Billy Strayhorn and Billy Eckstine on the list of "Pittsburgh-native entertainers."
Ming-Na Wen was born in Macau and moved to the Pittsburgh area as a teenager, and attended Mt. Lebanon High School and Carnegie Mellon University. Her parents still own a Chinese restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh.
Christina Aguilera was born in New York but raised in the Pittsburgh area, and graduated from North Allegheny High School. She'd sung the National Anthem at many Steelers, Pirates and Penguins games, including both home games of the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals.
Wiz Khalifa was born in Minot, ND when his father was in the military, and lived all over the world as a child. He eventually settled in Pittsburgh, and the "Taylor Gang" references are his way of representing Taylor Allderdice High School, his alma mater.
Sharon Needles is a drag queen who was born in Iowa but moved to Pittsburgh in 2004, and he's the most recent champion of RuPaul's Drag Race.
Who are the 10 most recognizable faces all time that represents your city?
Now this might sound strange but if you were to drive through our city during the day, you would see the same "street creatures" every day. We have a guy that is fondly referred to as "stretch". He walks a few steps, stops, looks around then STRETCHES...does this every yard or so..smiles, greets people. I guess he has some issues with his back. There is another lady who has walked ALL OVER our city most of her life. She wears 1960's type clothing and ties her hair in a top knot on her head. My husband fondly calls her "Top Knot Lady". It is my understanding that she had a son who was run over by a train some years ago and ever since she has walked and wandered all over the city. She is pleasant enough, just walks, and walks, and walks. We have Dunkin Donut sitters..same ones every day. Daily bike riders...from downtown to our local park they can be seen..every day. Since I have been retired and "tend to wander and am prone to conversation" maybe I can join this group of social people..it surely isn't our city "Fathers" who are making an appearance and are remembered in any way.

1. Al Capone
2. Michael Jordan
3. Barack Obama
4. Richard Daley Sr.
5. Richard Daley Jr.
After this I am not sure......
This is a good list, minus President Obama. I would add Harry Caray. I can't separate Chicago from the Cubs. Certainly, Harry Caray IS the face and voice of the Cubs. I don't care how long that man hasn't been with us, RIP. I want some peanuts and cracker jacks just thinking about it.
I think that this thread has degraded to a listing of famous people from their town.
Wow, I thought the purpose of the thread was to pare down to a solid ten people, not list every notable person who was either born or lived in your town.
