I've posted a bunch of YouTube clips of the 1996 Opening Ceremony in the Atlanta forum. After the really disappointing London ceremony last night, I think people should be reminded how truly beautiful and elegant the Atlanta opening was. As the years go by, lots of people are now giving Atlanta and Georgia due credit for putting on what remains the largest summer games in history. Why some folks blame the city -- and dismiss all the good things about 1996 -- over the tragic actions of one lone nut job I'll never understand. It's like blaming Dallas for the JFK assassination.

Atlanta Opening Ceremony vs London Opening Ceremony

How did Atlanta handle it "the worst"? Seems to me the unfortunate situation was handled as appropriately as possible.

I think the Salt Lake City games were memorable in that the US had some surprising medal winners, as the host countries often do.
