is there a differance between the milwaukee accent and the chicago accent? (house)

i've noticed the two cities have similar accents, but is it just me, but do people just over the border in kenosha-racine-milwaukee sound a little more "minnesotan" or "canadian" with their rounded "o's" than chicagoans?

Milwaukee still has a trace of the old German accent, in which each syllable was pronounced more separately and distinctly, and not run together. A sentence sounds like a list of objects with one-syllable names.

I would say you are correct. In Chicago the accent gets a little more dilluted and isn't as widespread. I think it's also has to do because it's signficantly more diverse, so there are more accents that dillute the Chicago accent. I have a SLIGHT Chicago accent, but my family is from Puerto Rico and Portugal so the English I grew up speaking in my house was not with the Chicago accent. My slight accent comes from what I picked up growing up in Chicago through friends, school, etc.

Not to say Milwaukee doesn't have it's diversity, but it is certainly more homogenous. Areas that are much more homogenous in Chicago, like in the southside, you will certainly get an earful of the accent.
