I know these city comparison poll threads have been getting on the nerves of some people as of late, but I'm just curious to see which city of the American "Rust-Belt" could potentially garner the most new residents, as this is in my opinion a vastly underappreciated portion of the nation for its architecture, cultural amenities, recreational opportunities, and four seasons of exciting weather.
I voted for Philadelphia. The others don't excite me one bit, except perhaps New Haven-- if I ever became a professor at Yale. Does Philadelphia even count as a "rust-belt" city?

I was a bit "iffy" including Philadelphia in this poll, but I decided that its nefarious reputation for urban blight, poverty, population loss, violent crime, and its close proximity to major Rust-Belt powerhouses like the Lehigh Valley, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and Newark/Paterson, allowed it to squeeze on in. My family and I enjoy our visits to Philadelphia very much---there's much more to the City of Brotherly Love than dodging bullets. Rainrock has showcased his unparalleled love for the city in the past with some excellent photographs that I urge others to seek out.
Actually, your discussion topic kind of relates to something I've been wondering lately. I've been looking up a bunch of cities in the Midwest lately, as an idea for relocation, and a couple of people on these forums have been really pushing Saint Louis, which some describe as rust-belt. I'm sure there's a lot to do there, a lot of history, architecture, urbanity, etc, but are these the kind of places that people move to? We know that people from the northeast and midwest are moving to the sunbelt areas, but it seems like it is unheard of for someone from a state like Colorado, or Arizona, to go out of their way to live in the "rust-belt" region (putting aside job transfers). It's weird being in the West and looking east towards the rust-belt.
I just picked Cleveland cause Im from there but I would live in the following in the Rust Belt,Akron/Canton,Buffalo,Cincinnati,Clevland,Dayton,Detroit( might go to college there),Erie,Flint,Harrisburg,Milwaukee,Newark/Paterson,Philadelphia,Rochester,and Youngstown.I really like this region alot,thanks for making a poll for it.
Oh and vegaspilgrim I was born in Cleveland and raised there for 13 years,and I now live in Colorado,but Im gonna move back to the Midwest/Rust Belt region.

Sure. Knock yourself out! If it were up to me, I'd add about a dozen more poll options beyond the maximum I was allotted, as I felt I should have included a few more cities (St. Louis, Wheeling/Weirton, WV, and Toledo, OH immediately come to mind).
My dad and all my grandparents are from Altonna/Johnstown area,a little town called Hastings.I don't really like it there that much.I wouldn't mind seeing P-burgh.
