Default Regional accents still strong among young people?

I've heard the Northern Cities accent of the Great Lakes is actually stronger among kids than among their parents and grandparents. What about the other regional accents? I've heard Boston is dying fast, New York is somewhat alive.

I am a 19 year old male and my accent is a weird mix of a NY accent and a New England accent (similar to how Rhode Island people talk).

So yeah, it's still alive and well. My parents actually have faded accents.
