I would have to say:
1. Al Capone
2. Michael Jordan
3. Barack Obama
4. Oprah
5. Richard J. Daley (I am choosing him over his son because during the height of his power it was said that he was more powerful than the president)
6. Carl Sandburg
7. Marshall Field
8. John Hughes (this may be cheating as I am picking him for his works rather than being known himself)
9. Frank Lloyd Wright
10. Mike Ditka
See, this is difficult because it asks for the most popular, but also who represents them and I think that the two don't necessarily go together. I mean, we have a lot of famous people but how do you narrow it down to ten people who represent your city?
My list isn't exactly in order and the people chosen aren't necessarily the most famous, and they did not necessarily spend their whole lives in Chicago/Chicagoland but are associated with the city. They do, however, fit well with the representation of Chicago and are famous on some level.
