I would say from the Mouth of the CT River about due NW to the Ct/NY Border.

It's both, obviously.

Connecticut is part of New England, but most of Connecticut is part of the NY Metro.

Two New England states, Connecticut and Vermont, are more tied to NY. The rest are more tied to Boston, obviously.
