Usually Canada (Toronto most commonly), Texas and Michigan. But lately I've been seeing a lot of people from Tennessee especially from a county called Blount county.

A lot of Kentucky and Alabama.
A good number of Southeastern states, such as Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
A good number of Midwestern states, especially Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois.
The big states - California, Texas, Florida, and New York are well-represented. Pennsylvania and New Jersey have a fair number as well.
Missouri is fairly common, and to a lesser extent, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Oregon and Washington have a surprising number.
It's also fairly common to see Ontario in the spring and fall (headed to Florida, of course).

I believe I've seen every plate represented (I know I've seen Alaska and Hawaii)...but we have a major military base about 55 miles away...so that's not too surprising.

Ontario plates are just as common as Michigan plates around here, mostly because we are right across the border from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario which is much bigger then Sault Michigan. Ohio and Wisconsin plates are fairly common in tourist season, as well as the odd plate from elsewhere. Non-Michigan and Ontario plates are rare outside of the warmer months.
When I was going to school in Kalamazoo, Illinois plates were pretty common; much more common in fact then Indiana plates, which I thought was weird because Indiana was closer.

Here in Minnesota....

1)Wisconsin (by far). Probably different on the western part of the state.
2)SD, ND, Iowa, Illinois
3) Everywhere else. The only plates I have not seen are Hawaii (obviously), Maine, New Hampshire, and Alabama.\

There is also a good amount of Manitoba and Ontario plates.

We see a lot of Wisconsin license plates in Rockford, Illinois (the border is just 12 miles north of the northern city limits, and the metro/urban area is connected with Beloit, Wisconsin). I'd say the second place spot (way less volume than the WI plates) is pretty evenly split between Iowa and Indiana.

I live in Central Florida, and I mostly see Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, and Connecticut. Being in the most visited city in America I've seen pretty much every state tag.
