I think it was 7-9 days.

I don't expect they'd spend the whole time in Memphis but they've got to stop somewhere on the way.

It would be approximately 6 days, with 2 of those spent driving. So 4 nights.

then NOLA, no overnight stops. You won't want any, and you can do NOLA to Michigan in one day. I did actually (to Detroit).

Personally, I would stay our of New Orleans and ATL just for the simple fact of safety when the sun goes down. Charleston and Savannah are both nice towns and definitely have a bit of charm to them.

Ive done it too, but from further up in Michigan. Its a tough drive though for someone not used to big road trips.
