I think the Northwest has a great spring time, unfortunately it's still within the rainy season, so most plants don't finish blooming until well into summer, which by the way are fantastic. To see the sun shining through all the green and the fact that it's not terribly hot makes it just wonderful.
Stupid question (I'm sure), but is Spring in the Pacific Northwest really a "spring"? That is, does the vegetation really "spring into life" around March through June? My family now lives in San Francisco and I can honestly say it doesn't seem like the area has more than 1 or 2 real seasons (distinguishable), but I haven't been there for any longer than a week at a time, so it'd be difficult to tell. The only seasons I know of are "wet" and "dry".
I'd say the mid-Atlantic region. Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. have a classic springtime and right on time.
It's beautiful to experience the mountains in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia as they transition from winter to spring. And of course, the cherry blossoms in D.C. are well-known.
agree! my part of va is quite awesome in the spring too, as well as the missouri ozarks! georgia was no slacker when it came to spring either!

How I see it as the PNW has 4 seasons, it just happens to be raining 3 out of 4 of them. If you've been up there during the spring, there are plenty of pretty blossoms. The sakura trees are amazing even as early as March/April.
