One is in WA State-Seattle
One is in Oregon-I would say portland but its not close to the coast. CLOSE ENOUGH
Five are in California-San Jose, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Monterrey? San Jose and San Francisco are in the same metro area; Monterey area has not a population close to one million, like I mentioned in the case of Tallahassee
One is in Nevada-Reno? Reno also has much less than one million
One is in Utah-Salt Lake City
One is in Michigan-Detroit, Grand rapids also counts You are right, I didn't know MI had another metro area beyond one million other than Detroit
One is in Illinois-Chicago
Three are in Ohio-Cleveland, Toledo, Akron Toledo is short of 1 million by 300,000 people so I would consider it a middle-sized metro area
One is in Pennsylvania-Philadelphia, Pittsburgh kind of counts (lake erie), Erie Erie's population is short below one million
One is in Indiana-Fort Wayne? Less than one million
Two are in Upstate New York-Rochester, Buffalo
Four are in Florida-Jacksonville, Orland0, Tampa, Miami; Tallahassee, Cape Coral and Sarasota count as wellSarasota is really close to Tampa, and if taken apart it would have less than one million; Cape Coral/Fort Myers will eventually, at their pace, become the fifth major metro area in Florida, but at this time the population of the area falls short below one million
Thanks for the correction on Grand Rapids in Michigan.
San Jose is part of the Bay Area. I'm gonna say Fresno and Sacramento for California.
That is correct. Fresno is far from the Bay Area, LA Area, SD Area and Sacramento Areas which are considered the four main metro areas in California, and has a population of around 1.3 million. They are the only five metro areas with a population over 1 million in California

As a general rule, all of the major metro areas in question have close to one or more million people.
Syracuse is another metro in Upstate NY where this occurs. Oswego has some spectacular sunsets off of Lake Ontario and Oswego County is a part of the Syracuse MSA.

Yes, but it has a population of a little bit less of 700,000 so it is mostly a middle-sized metro area. If we count the middle-sized metro areas there will be a lot more metro areas, so it is best in this thread to keep in the one million (close, for example 950,000) minimum threshold.
San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose are in the same metro area
Tampa, Sarasota, St Petersburg are in the same metro area
Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami are in the same metro area
Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Anaheim are in the same area
The metro areas I am referring have an estimated minimum population of 1 million. If we count middle sized cities, the thread will result in an answer with hundreds of options- for example in California only we can mention Redding, Modesto, Santa Barbara, Monterey Metro Area, San Bernardino, Bakersfield... Let's try to stay in the 1 million estimated minimum threshold.
Delaware Bay is pretty wide at the tip of NJ so Philly, NYC, Baltimore and DC would count. Ditto with Cape Cod and Boston. You may have to go in the summer when the sun sets more to the NW.
