What comes to mind in other southern states when one thinks of North Carolina? Positive or negative, just asking out of curiosity. I've lived in NC my whole life and I've always wondered what other southerners think of us.

To me, and my family is all from Kentucky, Nort Carolina is just an extension of Tennessee and a nice place. Don't harbor any ill feelings at all about NC...

Full of northeasterners who either moved there directly in retirement or who moved to Florida and then moved halfway back making the state a lot more expensive than it once was.

NC has changed. Almost everyone I know has left the state. I try not to go back because it breaks my heart every time I do. NC is hipster cookie cutter sprawl. Like Laura said. Full of transplants and void of the character it once had. What happened to the Bele Chere is an excellent example. Asheville was better when it was full of natives.

Most people I know here in AL think positively of NC (especially the mtns), but it is starting to get the reputation of having too many transplants.

When I think of North Carolina, I naturally think of transplants. That's where my friend's grandma got hers. I don't know much about the rest of the state outside of the cities.
