I think Tulsa is a wana be Portland anyway Kudos to them they couldn't have picked a better role model. Im from Seattle and were playing catch up to are neighbor in urban planning and public transportation . I would hope alot of cities follow Portlands role model its an awsome urban city.

you are as right as rain Tulsa should have had the Pearl District built out by 2012 , but has just barely started the construction on the Tulsa Oklahoma Pearl District while the Portland Oregon Pearl District is one of the Highlights of Portland Oregon..........

There are those who live here, who are leaving and who have left who would disagree. My predicition is that poor planning in some regards will cause a degree of urban blight and add to the increasing traffic congestion (see the Portland forum with comments being made by people who actually live in Portland) in the not-so-distant future.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion. Cities should plan accordingly to their own needs and not try to copy off others. I think that's where mistakes are often made in city planning.

Looks like both Tulsa and Portland have it's bike traffic problems. Maybe you could say they are alike in that respect. There are many interesting websites you can google on the subject of Portland bike traffic. It's a pretty well discussed topic here. Here are just a couple of topics concerning bike traffic and lanes in Portland.

One of the problems is that the many different symbols and colors painted on the streets for cyclists are not at all self explanatory and cyclists and motorists alike don't understand what they are supposed to do when they see them.
