Depending where you're at in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill-Cary), it's anywhere from 50-85 miles to the Virginia border via Interstate 85. It's generally about 100 miles or more to the South Carolina border via US Highway 1.

Here in the san antontio area.....the nearest state line is either Mexico or Louisiana at under 4 hours away
