I am a 24 year old real estate broker working out of the nyc suburb of westchester. I'm looking for a new city to live/work in during the winter months. I'm a musician in my free time so a good music scene and nightlife in general would be a plus. Another big plus would be a city with some scenic areas, parks, bike trails, etc. I live 15 minutes from NYC and the metro/urban area is a little much for me. Some of the places Ive considered are Austin, Phoenix, Tucson, Fort Lauderdale. Any insite or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Hard to beat Austin for music scene in the sun belt.

Indianapolis has a hot real estate market right now. And our cost of living is the lowest of any major US city. Also we have the nations most affordable housing market and Chicago is 3 hours away. Jobs are plentiful in central Indiana.

For a winter retreat you would most likely want someplace that's actually warm. Austin dips into the high 30s and low 40s December through February which isn't much different from NYC. South Florida would be the way to go with Fort Lauderdale (lows in the mid 50s) as the best option in my opinion. Though somewhat expensive Key West (lows in the mid 60s) could be another choice as well. Lastly another option (a bit more offbeat) could be a US Territory such as St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands or San Juan, Puerto Rico.....with average lows in the low 70s.
