Are there any cities who's overall character/vibe/personality, or nightlife atmosphere, etc. have been ruined by an influx of too many yuppies/snobby hipster types?

I've heard this suggested about both New York City and Washington DC.

San Francisco, and even parts of Philadelphia are ruined by those snootie pricks. I don't like yuppies. My old neighborhood is filled with them. They look at me if I'm the new guy. Ha! Please.

Yuppies and Bloomberg killed my NYC. Bring back the dirt and low rent and sense of mystery. Yuppies/hipster morons are ruining Brooklyn, once a city of its own, at an alarming speed.
