Seems to me, that it's probably in this order, based on my observations (TV, Internet) and seeing things with my own eyes.
In order, 1 SF, 2 Pittsburgh, 3, Seattle, 4, San Diego, 5, Cincinnati.
Thoughts?
Honolulu could be in the top 5, but I was thinking, major metro areas in the USA, on the mainland. Oakland, could be top 5 as well, but, it's not the focus city, in it's Metro Area.
SF, from what I read, is the 3rd hilliest major city in the World.
Never been in the West Coast but have been in Pittsburgh four times. Easily and BY FAR the hilliest city in the east (maybe the only one but have been told Knoxville and Cincinnati have some mountains nearby).
^^^ Florida has the lowest high point of any state in the US at 345 ft above sea level. Just to show how flat and low the state is even a city like Philadelphia (not known for height) has a point higher at 445ft above sea level. Phillys lowest point is sea level
Los Angeles has some VERY hilly neighborhoods. In fact it contains some of the steepest streets in America -- 3 of which are steeper than the steepest street in SF.
Sd is hilly but a lot of neighborhoods are built on mesa's and are fairly flat. I love SD's topograhy, flatter developed mesa's seperated by steep, natural canyons.
